ADOPTION POLICY

We are always happy when people inquire about our dogs! Especially if they are interested in giving one of the The Safe Haven Inc., ~Rottweiler Hope~ Rescue dogs a forever home!! Here is some information that will help you decide if one of our dogs is for you.

We require all family members, including current dogs, to visit so we are certain everyone gets along before heading home. When you come to The Safe Haven Inc., you should allow at least an hour and are very welcome to stay longer! If you are considering adopting a Rottweiler, please remember that they are social animals and are very devoted family members. They enjoy participating in every aspect of your family life.

You will want a Rottweiler if you want a constant, loyal companion to share your home, your bedroom, your lap, your activities and your life! Rottweilers were originally bred to herd livestock. Therefore, we require that all dogs adopted from us live inside and have access to a FENCED yard. Unfenced yards contribute to unsafe conditions for the dog and loose dogs are in violation of the law.

Our adoption fee is $200.00 per dog. Each ~Rottweiler Hope~ Rescue goes to it's new home heartworm checked, treated if necessary, on preventative, spayed or neutered, wormed and current on all shots. The placement fee helps to deter cost of veterinary care and food while at The Safe Haven, Inc. The adopter is responsible for getting a current dog license from his/her county. Obedience training is REQUIRED of the adopter and the dog after adoption. The Safe Haven Inc., Rottweiler MUST be under control of all times! This also helps enhance the daily living conditions and household manners with the dog. We are ALWAYS available to adopters after the adoption has taken place for questions, information and behavioral consultations, either by phone or online. We also want the adoption to work so, if for some reason the adoption does not work out, the adopted Rottweiler MUST be returned to The Safe Haven Inc.. This also applies if you are no longer able to care for the dog. All of our Rottweilers have been temperament tested and found to be sound. Each dog is closely monitored and observed while in our care. We do not place aggressive dogs or dogs with bite incidents. We place our Rottweilers into FAMILY HOMES ONLY to live inside with the other family members.

The Rottweilers for adoption are NOT warranted for health or behavior/temperament and are not released for placement until the dog is healthy. We also ask that potential adopters have some experience with large breed ownership, have a demonstrated record of responsible dog care verifiable through the reference to a veterinarian, can demonstrate the financial capability to care for the dog and can demonstrate that the appropriate housing is available for the dog.
