We adopted Jesse a.k.a. Isaac from "The Rottweiler Hope" rescue group just over a year ago. It is hard to believe he has been with us for only a year, it seems that we have had him always. There were so many lovely dogs to chose from which made the choice a difficult one. When Jan brought Jesse out he impressed us immediately with his very calm and sweet behaviour. Jesse adjusted very quickly to his new home, he was clean and well behaved. He and my parents 7 year old Rottweiler female Jenny get along great and have become best buddies. They spend all day at the office with us and are good company for each other. Jess has become a real "outdoors man". Chris has taken him canoing and camping to Algonquin Park and Lake Superior. He finally managed to lose his fear of the water during these trips and became a very powerful and enthusiastic swimmer. Our daily walk usually takes us to Lake Ontario where he and Jenny manage to get in another quick "dip". Jesse is thriving, he has gained weight and has evolved into a very beautiful and stable dog. We simply cannot comprehend how anyone can discard an animal of this calibre and temperament. Their loss is our gain! |
HI! from Savannah & Shayne. Mom & Dad thought we should sent a new photo so you could see how both of us are doing. We love going to the beach and spend time in the water.......that's where this was taken. Beach Rotties!
We have great fun pulling dad along & into the water on the flex lead. He bought it thinking we could go swimming & he wouldn't get wet. NOT! hehe!! We have the coolest parents.......they just bought a new, king size bed so everyone would fit & be comfortable. The people at the furniture store got a big laugh when they heard why they bought a bigger bed. Mom & Dad love us so much and tell us all the time how lucky they are to have us in their life. We love them too and also everyone at The Safe Haven for taking good care of us until we could find our forever home! |

Wow, it's hard to believe we have had Roc for over a year now! Where to
begin..... Roc is home and he knows it. He gets so excited when he is playing, that he sometimes bounces around like a bucking bronco! He also likes to sniff flowers. It is so cute to see 162 lb rottweiler smelling flowers. My sister-in-law read in an issue of Dog Fancy that dogs smell flowers because it is relaxing. Kind of like aroma therapy. Works for humans; why not dogs. He is such a love bug
even though it is deceiving because he is a growler. He growls when he
plays; when you pet him; when he gets his bath;
when he is excited; he just likes to growl! We gave him the nickname Ben (the bear on the old Grizzley Adams show) because of his growling and because he looks like a bear. He had his 7th birthday on June 2. As you can see from the pictures it was a good time. We bought him a peanut butter cake cake from the Three Dog Bakery It was a hit. Roc in his usual style gulped the piece of cake down while Cloey is a bit more dainty. She ate the icing off first; then she ate the cake. They ate birthday cake for three days. Roc has really opened up and is a very happy guy. As you can tell from some of the pictures - he has the Rotty "full body lean"! ;-) Hope things are going well. Thank you so much for your efforts that have allowed us to give a home to another needy Rott! PS - Roc says grrrrrrrrrrr.......... |
Cassie came into our lives as a foster puppy, after my old female Rottweiler died. I have an older male, named Raider, who was lonely and depressed...but not anymore!! Cassie, so sweet and loving, snuggled her way into our hearts, with her puppy energy and mischievous ways! She loves to play with Raider and any of the foster dogs we may have. She does such cute things like sticking her head through the doggie door, while holding onto my sock and the wide eyed expression she gave me when she saw me standing there was priceless! Sometimes I call her ' My Little Devil Dog!' Cassie needed us as much as we needed her......she's here to stay and everyone is very happy! |

Tank, {L} & Toby {Front} were both adopted from The Safe Haven. We were
very happy to have them join our family. Even their Rott'n sister,
Jasmine {R}, welcomed them, but let them know right off she was 'Boss
Dog'! Tank has earned his CGC since being adopted and loves to silently sneak up and give you a very, soft lick to say, "Here I am!" and then will lay his head in your lap for lots of hugs. Toby is the protector of the group and loves to jump up and put his paws on your shoulder to give hugs. All three rotties enjoy spending time with the family, hanging out or going for car rides and being spoiled rott'n! This picture was taken at Santa Paws, a fundraiser for the local Humane Society.....boy what a commotion we caused when we walked in with three rotties! But everyone behaved very well and impressed everyone who was waiting with their good manners.

I adopted Chance shortly after I finished my second year of college. After much debate and research of whether I would be capable of caring for a rottie along with going to school, and being the stubborn individual that I am, I went against most of the advice that I received and adopted Chance. Chance has become very accustomed to life on my parents farm, and has become best of friends with their Husky dog. They are very close, to find one is to find the other. Chance is the center of attention. Being a young rottweiler, he has not yet perfected his coordination but, he is getting better. He is doing very well in obedience, though there have been times I have wondered if there was a brain inside that melon of his. Depending on what life brings forth to us, I would like to compete in obedience. Good Luck to The Safe Haven. We hope you find good homes for all the other rescues in your care. |
It's US, Baylee and Apollo (Hunter)! We hadn't gotten Mom to write to you for a long time so we wanted to tell you what we are doing. BAYLEE: I am such a big guy now that you wouldn't recognize me-but mom says that I still have my puppy face |
We adopted Otis, formerly known as Steele from The Safe Haven in Apr. 1998. He is the most adorable & loving dog on earth! But then again We are prejudice! Otis gets along great with his sisters Macy & Roxy, and has become quite "the Daddy's boy" in every sense of the word. Dave
has him so spoiled it's pathetic and Otis follows him everywhere,
even on the couch! Otis and Macy do everything together from watching TV to just hanging out in the back yard. I had to send the picture of Otis in his Spartan hat......it's one of my favorites and he is such a ham for the camera!

It's has been almost one year since Niki joined our family. One year! Time does fly, but it is like she has been here all along. You know we lost our last Rottie, Lilly, 6 months before Niki entered our lives. I will never forget the first night home, trying to sleep with Niki holding our cats hostage under the bed. What a night! Of course, the two cats, Laverne and Shirley, set the rules down very soon after that and they are now best of friends. Niki has blossomed into 120 pounds of energy and greased lightning. She loves to run, but always looks over her shoulder to make sure we are still there. We just vacationed in the Smokeys and she was hypnotized by the deer that are abundant in the campgrounds there. She saw a very large black bear sow with 4, yes, 4 cubs. She didn't move a muscle until they were out of sight.
She loves two things in life other than her parents. That's bacon and having her belly scratched. So thanks Jan for bringing this wonderful young lady into our lives. Sometimes at night she cries out while sleeping. I wonder sometimes what she is dreaming about. I know all dogs do this at times but when I wake her to make sure she is okay, she looks at me with this smile that says "I'm okay Dad, just a bad dream." So keep up the good work Jan. Niki's brothers and sisters really need you.

![]() Nigel joined our family five months ago as a "foster" boy. After recently losing my ten year old male great dane, we did not have intentions on adding any new family members to our household for quite some time. We wanted to enjoy our ten year old female rottweiler Gretchen , our four year old pitbull Pinky and our three cats Opie, Vinnie and Bips. When we received the call from Jan asking if we would consider fostering a very sweet boy, we looked at each other as though we were both crazy for even thinking about it. The pets that we currently had co-exisited so wonderfully that is was frightening to think what adding a stranger might do to the mix. Considering we did not have any history on Nigel, except that he was a stray and who knows how he would be with my cats. Were we crazy?!!? Yes, maybe....so a few days later a very car sick boy endured the 45 minute ride to our home. He was greeted by my two females and they continued checking out one another for the remainder of the day...so far so good. Shortly after his arrival, the real test came when my orange cat Opie entered the room and defiantly walked right up to the new guy who was enjoying a bone. Opie sniffed his bone, did an about-face and flicked his tail in Nigel's face and walked away. We were both holding our breath.....no reaction at all. But, the look on Nigel's face was priceless! About a month after his arrival, we phoned Jan to notify her that Nigel wished to join our family as a permanent member. (But to tell you the truth....I'm sure Jan knew how this would end when she first called us.) I am happy to say that he now enjoys a few wooded acres and his new ring of friends which has grown to include not only my dogs and cats but a another male rottweiler named Bonehead and another male great dane named Buzz. His ability to fit in with everybody just amazes me. Nigel is one huge pile of love and silliness. He can sometimes hardly contain himself, One of the funniest things we caught him doing was actually pulling a burr out of Opie's fur. He followed him around for quite some time, seemingly concerned about the little mat of fur on the side of his body. So he pulled it with his teeth until he got it free. He is very happy-go-lucky, bouncing all over the place with his five inch long tail sticking straight up with his two inch long tuft of hair hanging off the end. If you have ever wondered what that tail would be doing if it hadn't been cut off....I can tell you......it would be wagging constantly!! he enjoys accompanying us to the mail box where he will wait in the driveway as you cross the road. He then turns and races to the left, around in a big circle and then races to the other side so he can run down the hill to once again greet you as you return to the yard. WooHoo!! He is truly Mr. Personality!! Thanks to Jan & The Safe Haven for getting us together!

Our little Bichone Friese lost her Rottweiler buddy last summer. Zara came into our home, comforting "Little Arby" and us as well. What a delight this rescue animal has been. |
