Brina (r) was my gift to myself when I bought my first house on August 1st. On August 21st I was laid off of my job. On August 28th I drove up to Michigan and when Brina came out the door to meet me, she jumped in my lap and that was that - I did not pick her, she picked me. Brina was my tried and true unwavering companion from that moment on. When it seemed like every other part of my life failed, Brina stayed the course and I am certain she kept me sane with a sense of purpose. This girl has two bullets in her and one of her hips was smashed where someone hit her with maybe a 2x4 or something as a young dog. It all grew to compensate for itself. She is the most loving dog I have ever known. In December 2002 came the Christmas letter that featured two dogs - one a big deaf boy named Micah. I read and re-read the letter never able to read it without crying. Finally in mid-January I drove up and met Micah and took him home too. With no job still, I figured I had time to focus on learning about this big deaf boy. Micah has been a real challenge, his deafness makes him hyper-reactive to lights and shadows; he has a nervous condition where he licks the air when he feels anxiety, he cannot control his barking when he sees trucks, minivans, school busses (I wear ear plugs in the car with him and on most days he makes me laugh so hard I cry) - but this dog is the most gorgeous Rottweiler I have ever seen. It is safe to say we have so much love in this little family of two Rottweilers and one person, it was a no-brainer - Micah is in the right place. My two dogs are the most loved, spoiled, loving, gigantic babies in Columbus. They are so lucky I took them home with me. But even more so, I am so lucky they graced my life, because they are the loves of my life! Shame on those who hurt or abandon any animal, but thank you to Rottweiler Hope for taking them in and making it possible for me to give all kinds of love to these babies. Since Brina passed away on January 7, 2005, it is certain I will have another addition to my family from Michigan in the not too distant future..... LeNan Empey

Molly is doing absolutely fabulous. We can't get her into obedience classes here until mid-November, so I've been working some with her myself and she catches on real quick. I've taken lots of pics of her, but she isn't the best picture taker. She doesn't quite sit still for that, We have been putting her to the test (neighbors checking on her when we're gone,) basically working on seeing if we can trust her and she gets better and better every day. Molly has lots of nicknames: Molly McButter, Molly McGee, Unsinkable Molly, Molly McPistol, and I'm sure there are others that I can't think of at the moment. She's enjoying the attention and seems to be adjusting marvelously.
Thanks again for your all your time and work....

My husband and I adopted Shaye on a beautiful May afternoon when she was estimated to be about 8 months old. Shaye had been shot in the head when you found her and had overcame the gunshot, a extreme case of Demodax mange and perhaps some abuse issues to become a happy, silly much loved member of our family. People still cannot believe how sweet and well behaved she is after hearing her story. We think Shaye is a wonderful story of success. She is such a happy, silly, mommies girl now, not the skinny, cowering affection starved Rottie girl that came home with us . We have a 3 year old boy now but Shaye and my Doberweiler, Gunner will always be my first "babies". They both are getting a little grey around the muzzle now but are still great ambassadors for the Rottweiler breed here in our neighborhood. Shaye is a wonderful girl and truly my heart dog. I just thought I would let you know how your organization brought an angel into our lives and we count our blessings every day for this. Thank you again for Shaye, she is so sweet and the light of my life.......Jackie Carlson & Family

"ASHLEIGH & NUGGET"
I know it's been a while since I brought Nugget home so I wanted to let you know that the dogs are doing great. Nugget (formerly Dominic) has settled in nicely. He got used to sleeping in the bed with me while Mike was gone for Army Reserves, but Mike cured him of that when he came home. He's really grown into a great dog. and is so lovable! Ashleigh is still the boss, of course, and loves to romp with Nugget. She's all tomboy! She is so not like most girl-dogs. She's getting up there in years now, but still acts like a pup most of the time. Mike gets upset at the grey chin hairs she has, but I think he's comparing them to his own and Ash has less! We hope everything is going well for you guys and the rescue. We check the site regularly and love seeing all the "adopted" slogans under the pictures. Good luck and stay safe........Mike and Gwen Higgins

"LUCY"
Greetings .... I wanted to send you our Christmas photo so you can see how great Lucy is doing. She got new toys for Christmas and was very happy. We are having fun and she is learning about the world, very curious. My Mom has been staying with me since she fell on the ice and Lucy is wonderful around her, very careful of the walker. She is just blossoming, very friendly to people, wonderful in the house, gets a little too excited when neighbors walk their dogs by the house, so we are working on that. She has learned to heal and does quite well on the leash. She plays with her toys and has a great time. I really love Lucy! She is such a clown, but aren't all Rotts. Thanks for saving Lucy, she had become my little shadow! Ann

"STITCH"
Hi! It's been awhile since we adopted Stitch (formerly Sloan) and I wanted to let you know how he's been doing. Which is quite well. He has learned a lot and is feeling very much at home. Riding home with him in the truck was no problem at all. He was very good and you wouldn't have even known he was there he was so quiet. We stopped at a rest area on the way and took all the dogs for a walk and Stitch behaved very well. Once we got home I took him through the house and showed him all the rooms to kind of introduce him to his new home. It didn't take long for him to start marking his territory. He also learned that just because Mary left of bucket of spaghetti on the counter and went outside for a minute doesn't mean he can haul it down and into the living room and help himself. But we know he likes spaghetti. Besides "sit" he has learned to shake with either paw and both paws, he has learned "lay down". He knows just because the gate is opened doesn't mean he can go out of the yard. He is learning when he goes for walks he must stop and sit at each curb and can't continue until he gets a verbal command. He loves going for rides in the car. When school is in he will go with Mary every morning to take the kids to school and each afternoon to bring them home. He is trying to figure out a way to jump on the seat of my motorcycle so he can ride with me. He really is trying to do this. Overall he behaves very well, has become protective of the family (don't mess with his kids) and is alert to noises. Stitch is very good at waking us up too. He stands by the bed and shakes his ears to get your attention. If you don't get up quick enough for him then he jumps on the bed and licks your face until do. He is however becoming a big baby. My wife blames it on me and I blame it on her, either way Stitch seems to like it. We are very happy with Stitch and he seems very happy with us. Him and Xena have become best friends and play and chase each other. They're exactly what the other needed. Sincerely, Dan

"NIA"
Hello!! Sorry it took so long to get back with you but we have been pretty busy! We adopted Nia about a week after we lost our Rottie of 11 years to arthritis in her spine. We were devastated when we had to put her down and so was our other dog. When we saw a picture of Nia on the website, my husband immediately picked her out because of her resemblance to our last dog. My husband and I just want you to know how happy we are with Nia. She is such a fun loving dog and very well mannered. She is getting along very well with our Siberian Husky and even better with another new member to our family. Two days after we brought Nia home, we found a German Shepherd in the ditch by our house. She was running back and forth on a main road so we brought her home and tried for two weeks to find her owner but no luck! It actually works out better because she and Nia are like two peas in a pod. They play and wrestle each other all day long!!! Thank you so much for raising such a good dog and then giving us the chance to give her a home!!
Sincerely, Wendy & Aaron

"DINAH"
Just wanted to drop you a note and let you know Dinah is doing fantastic! She has adjusted to life with us like she has been with us from a pup.
She *LOVES* the boat. Here she is on the upper deck. Dinah sure has filled a gaping hole after the loss of our Boss. Thanks again for all your help.

"COOPER"
It is hard to believe it has been 1 1/2 years since we had adopted
Cooper from Rottweiler Hope. Cooper has been a wonderful addition to our family. We would not trade him for the world. His daily activities involve going for a walk with his cousins (Loki and Honey), helping Mom when she is outside in the backyard and playing tug of war with his Rottweiler toy with Dad. We have gone through at least three
Rottweiler tug toys within the last 6 months. I guess that isn't too bad considering his cousins would have had them gutted within 5 minutes. His favorite past time is when he has the capability is to gut the Rottweilers' and throw the stuffing all around the house. Could this be a social skill problem... Hmm....
My goal is to teach him to pick up after himself by putting his toys
in a basket. We are still working on this. Believe it or not, he is 90% better when we go for walks. He does not try to tug on his leash as much anymore. (And we thought miracles couldn't happen.)
Cooper loves to go for car rides, especially to the Groomer. Everyone
there just loves him. Cooper has also made his mark with the UPS man. He has learned if he puts his game face on (pretending to look ferocious), he gets a suck-up treat; therefore he uses that to his advantage when he can. We want to thank Rottweiler Hope for bringing Cooper into our lives.

"SADIE"
Sadie is doing great. When we first brought her home she was a little nervous, but is now every bit as relaxed in our family as Monty, our Gordan Setter. She is very, very loving. In fact, now when we get home she can't wait to come out of her crate, and she won't go outside until I hold her head in my arms for a minute. It's like it's part of her routine now... (Dad get's home and holds my big head for 1 minute before going outside, and that's just the way it is!) Sadie and her brother became inseparable after only about a week. Wherever Sadie is in the house Monty is right there with her and vice versa. In fact, if I take one outside without the other, the one left behind just wails. And if I let Monty out of his crate first, he runs directly to Sadie's crate to touch noses through the bars before I can even get there to let her out too. They are very funny to watch, and wonderful companions. When not laying on their big pillows we have for them they love to sit in your lap! I have included a picture of Sadie, Monty and my brother Mike who loves to spoil them rotten!
Thanks for everything and keep up the good work!

"NOAH"
Hi Everyone! I wanted to let you all know that Noah-baby is doing great and has been nothing but an angel! Alot has happened since I adopted Noah with the biggest thing being that we moved to Washington to plan for my wedding! My new husband Mike, is a wonderful wonderful man who has not only asked me to be part of his life but Noah & Shasta also! Noah also has a new lab brother Drake and a cat to play with! He is too funny when around the cat, his facial expressions are hysterical because he wants to play and the cat ignores him! I can't be prouder of Noah. He's my 2nd angel and he's such a sweetie. He's been the best and there's not a day that goes by that I don't thank God for him and for the rescue. I love Noah with all my heart and want to spoil him during his time on this earth...he's such a joy! Mike and I have lots of plans to take the dogs camping, to the ocean, hiking...all sorts of stuff I never did cuz I didn't have anyone to share the activities with. Noah will be having so many more new experiences here...it's going
to be fun to watch him and share with him.
Take care! Regards, Meg (and kisses from Noah!)

"JASMINE"
Jasmine has settled in and finally realizes this is her home. It was a
little hectic at first because of my 2 cats, Hooter and White Kitty. Hooter ignored her, but the other one hissed and ran and of course that made her want to chase. She finally has accepted them and leaves them alone. She likes to play tug and I got her a stringy rope thing to play with. Her tugging is a bit much for me but I'm showing her how to "drop it" and let go and let me throw it for her to fetch... Unfortunately, that includes inside as well as outside... my fault. haha But she learned to do this in a matter of minutes with my insistence on her not pulling. She's so smart. I'm thinking that the couch thing might be something that was bred into Rotties somewhere along the line as Jasmine seems to have taken over my love seat, and occasionally lies on the couch next to me with her head in my lap. She's great! Thanks for rescuing her, and whoever gave her up just doesn't
know what they've missed.....

"ZEUS"
Hello Safe Haven!! We wanted to write and let you know what a joy Zeus has been in our life! We have had him 3 years now, time has passed so quickly. We enjoy spending every minute with him. He is playful, obedient and very loving. He makes us laugh everyday! We are so glad that we found each other, and we owe it all to you guys! Zeus has settled in with us so well. We just built a new house and he enjoyed "keeping an eye" on the progress. He LOVES going to the lake and playing with all the kids. What an awesome swimmer!
Thanks again! Matt & Lisa McLaughlin & Zeus

"BEAU BROK"
Beau Brok came to live with us April 2nd. He was a shy, timid boy whose personality has changed daily as he becomes more trusting of us. We have likened this change to the petals of a rose as they unfold and open, enabling us to appreciate the true beauty that lies within when given
the chance to bloom. Brok gets along wonderfully with our other two Rotts, Sass and Thor. It is a real joy watching them run, swim, and play together. It is almost as if he grew up with them! Brok has been with us only a short time, but we can't imagine our lives without him. Thank you Safe Haven for rescuing Brok, and allowing him to live the life he so greatly deserves.
