"BRENDA SUE"
7/26/90 - 5/25/01 Bone Cancer
 |
Brenda spent the first two years of her life in a kennel.
The closest she ever got to the house was the garage to have a litter of puppies.
Her first owner had to reduce the size of his kennel and that's when Brenda got her
first break.
Her older sister, Britta, and her son, Nitro, already lived with me, so it
was only natural that she came to live with us, her family. The four of us
had nearly eight happy years together. I knew since they were close in age
that I would probably lose them fairly close together, but knowing didn't
make it any easier when the time came.
Brenda was a very quiet girl whose smile earned her the nickname, ''Smiling
Brenda" early on. She was very undemanding & content to just hang out at
home and happiest when on the bed.
Meeting new people was a little scary for her at first, but she eventually
met people at the door looking to make a new friend.
After her son and her sister died last year, Brenda and I went for a walk
out in our woods; just the two of us. It was much quieter then and she stuck
much closer as we walked. We had almost another year together before she
joined Britta and Nitro at the Rainbow Bridge. Now the three of them are
together again waiting for me to join them. She was very brave while fighting
bone cancer and going to MSU for her radiation treatments which did so much
to help her pain. Quite early the morning after she died, I took one of our rescues for a
walk to exercise his leg after surgery. It was very peaceful and quiet. On
our way back to the house, the mourning doves began to call softly. It was as
if they were mourning sweet little Brenda that day and telling her good-bye.
I still sometimes expect to see her smiling face when I come home. For a
brief moment I sometimes think I see a glimpse of Brenda, Britta and Nitro,
but then I realize I'm only seeing them in my mind waiting for me at the
Rainbow Bridge. I can hardly wait for our wonderful reunion. Good-bye til then
my Brenda Sue. I miss you sweet girl. Love, Mom

Chance was my special friend who I adopted 3 years ago from Rottweiler Hope. He was great company and enjoyed "helping" me with my homework while in college, being outside and going "bye-bye". I had lots of pet names for him, like Goofy & Melon Head, but no matter what I called him, he knew he was my friend. My Mom called him a perpetual puppy.....I would have to agree. Chance may be gone, but he won't be forgotten....we will meet again. Chance was owned & loved by Jason Schilling

She came into our lives like a whirlwind. All puppy, she turned the lives of us, the dogs
and the cats upside down. Nicknames of affection like Ritalin and Squirrel Bait just
seemed to naturally apply to her. And finally, a dog who loved to play fetch, catch and
tug of war!
We fell in love so fast, and so fast was she taken from us. Like a brilliant flash of
lightening, she was there one day, gone the next. We miss you Sienna, enjoy all those
soccer games and give mom a great big slurpy kiss from me.

We've come full circle, Can't you see,
It was time to cross, please don't cry, for me.
We thank you for the love you gave,
And the special memories that we made,
We know it's hard, it was our time to go.
We'll meet again, this much we know,
To run and play at the Bridge made of Rainbows!

Bridget Buchanan,
8/97--7/31/00
Bridget came to us battered and emotionally bruised.
She was shy and retiring and clearly abused.
This Rott cried with her eyes for someone to trust:
We were also grieving a loss, it was a job for us.
She bonded with Chuck, and became his best friend.
She'd follow him anywhere, to the Earth's end.
Hiking, and swimming, and herding horses she adored:
Long rides in the jeep, and pontoon boating, and more.
Visiting friend Randy, Teddy, Buford and Bear,
Weekends at the cabin, yep, she begged to be there!
Or bounding through deep snow, playing the game, "Zoom"!
Or quietly sleeping with Chuck, a midnight shift dog, in the afternoon.
She could fetch sticks in the lake for hours:
Would mischievously sneak, and bury bones in my flowers.
She loved licking Chuck's ears, and nightly coffee on the deck:
Jumping in his lap for a belly rub and a pet.
This is the dog lifetime memories are made of,
God Bless her now, she is in Heaven above.
Gone much too soon, Bridget, You were one of a kind
You will live on in our hearts and forever in our mind.
Greatly loved and missed by Chuck & Joyce Buchanan

We lost our very loving pup on January 6th,
2005, due to a sudden accident by a careless driver,
after she snuck out. The day we met her she was only
6 months old, we made a trip to the animal shelter and
spotted her, it was love at first sight for her and
us! Even though she was only with us for a short 5
months, she gave so much love to is and we in return
gave her lots of love! I didn't know how loving a
rotty could be until she came into our loves. We
loved the way she always wanted to snuggle and play.
She loved to take baths and would even jump into
showers or bathtubs with whomever was taking them.
She loved to jump on the bed beside me at night, curl
up next to my pillow, put her head back and rub her
nose on my cheek as if to say, "I love you mom, good
night". She had so much fun playing with her brother
"Hooch" a Black Lab/Chow mix. They were very close
and he misses her greatly. She was just learning how
to do so many things by watching her brother Hooch.
Shaking and giving kisses and more. So many things
she did that were funny and wonderful and we will
never forget them. But at the end (I wont go into
detail) we could tell how much she really loved us.
She will always be in our thoughts, hearts and we miss
her deeply. We know that someday we will all meet
again at the "Rainbow Bridge" and cross over it as a
family into gods loving arms. We love you Haley and
miss you very much. You will always be a part of our
hearts and we will never forget our beautiful girl.

"MADISON"
|
Madison has been a very special part of our family. This picture was taken 2 weeks before she died.
Madison was adopted almost four years ago. Her gentle nature and quiet presence added so much to our little family. She would love to go running with me, or sit on the patio while I worked in the garden. Madison loved the attention that Geoffrey gave her, even if it included being dressed up, ridden or chased in the back yard. People who were afraid of dogs would occasionally come into the house, and she greeted them at the door as a proper hostess would do. She seemed to sense their fear and would position herself in front of them. Every time they'd find themselves patting her almost absentmindedly, forgetting their fear for a moment. She was that kind of a dog. I named her after a river, surprisingly enough one that I saw in a movie. It was calm and generous and majestic in its passing. Madison lived up to her name, and our family will miss her.

"COPPER"

Strong, feisty, spirited, and beautiful. Our three year old chocolate
lab was perfect for our family of three boys. She was strong enough to
pull them on sleds when she was harnessed. She was feisty enough to
gradually sneak into a room where she was forbidden and get away with
it. She was spirited enough to try anything. And, she was a beautiful
speciman of a Labrador Retriever. Three years after her accident and
death, we still miss her.
Loved and missed by the Heydlauff family.

"PENNY" Little Penny. 4-9-00 - 8-17-00, we wish you a safe flight. You
touched so many hearts here on earth with your life. May your
passing touch many, many more hearts. May it provide the
inspiration, wisdom, compassion and responsibility to ensure that all
breeders spay and neuter their SAS afflicted dogs, stamping out
forever this relentless killer disease. We will always remember....
 | Angel Flying too Close to the Ground
If you had not have fallen,
Then I would not have found you,
Angel flying too close to the ground.
And I patched up your broken wings
And hung around for awhile,
Trying to keep your spirits up
And your feet on the ground.
I knew some day that you'd fly away,
For love's the greatest healer to be found.
So leave me if you need to,
I will still remember,
Angel flying too close to the ground...

"MEGGIE & JESSIE" 7/86-3/00 .......10/85-3/00
Jessie and Meggie were better dogs than anyone could ask for. Gentle, kind, loving, loyal and smart---that describes our two loved and missed pets. Nicknamed "the ladies", they stayed by us through good times and bad; and no matter how bad things were, you could always count on wagging tails and lots of kisses at the end. Nothing was harder for us than saying good bye this year to our beloved friends. We will always remember Meggie's gentle spirit, and Jessie's quiet patience. We thank God for letting us have them as long as we
did.
Sadly missed and much loved by the Hutcheon's Family |
